THE IMPORTANCE OF OMEGA 3!
Your body is made up of 73 trillion cells. Each cell has a membrane which is made up of phospholipids. These phospholipids (if healthy) keep the membranes soft and permeable which allows many different processes to happen in and out of the cell (e.g. they allow all the vitamins and minerals into the cell and all the toxins and waste products out of the cell).
The different types of fats that we consume in our diet have a direct impact on how well these phospholipids function. If we consume too many bad fats (e.g. Trans fatty acids found in processed foods) and not enough good fats (e.g.Omega-3’s) the structure of these phospholipids become hard, rigid and impermeable. This affects the functioning of EVERY SINGLE cell membrane in your body!
Think of the detrimental effect that this can have on your child’s growth, development and performance at school (both in the classroom as well as on the sports field).
